Product Information

Name:
Bartsioside
Description:

Verbascoside is a cox-2 inhibitory compound that belongs to the class of iridoid compounds. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins and other inflammatory mediators by competitively inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in the conversion of tyrosinase to melanin. Verbascoside also has potent inhibitory properties on other enzymes such as cyclooxygenases, lipoxygenases, and 5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP). This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in skin cells through inhibition of COX-2, LOX, and FLAP. It is also a potent inhibitor of tyrosinase with a Ki value of 0.8 μM. Bartsioside has been found to be effective against acne vulgaris and other skin diseases caused by microbial infections or inflammation.
