Description:
Neoanhydropodophyllol is a natural product that has been isolated from the plant species, Anhydropogon citratus. It has shown to have antibacterial and antiviral activity in vitro with MIC values of 0.5-1 µg/mL. Neoanhydropodophyllol has also been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. This may be due to its ability to inhibit the expression of COX2 and iNOS genes by blocking NF-kB activation.
