The kinetic studies revealed that dF6G reacts with H2O in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio to form hydrogen fluoride and 6-deoxyhexoate. 6dF6G has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties similar to glucose and it can be used as an alternative source of energy by many organisms including aerobacter aerogenes.
