Dideoxyrhamnojirimycin inhibits DNA synthesis by blocking the incorporation of deoxyribonucleotides into DNA, which prevents cell division and stops the spread of cancer cells. Dideoxyrhamnojirimycin also has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
