L-Daunosamine-b-methylglycoside hydrochloride has been shown to act as a competitive inhibitor of bacterial dna gyrase, which helps maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA by preventing supercoiling. L-Daunosamine-b-methylglycoside hydrochloride has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to ribosomes, which are responsible for translating mRNA into proteins.
