Description:Deslanoside is a cardiac glycoside, which is derived from the leaves of the Digitalis lanata plant. As a member of the cardiac glycoside family, it functions by inhibiting the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase pump. This inhibition results in an increase in intracellular sodium levels, which subsequently leads to a rise in intracellular calcium concentrations via the sodium-calcium exchange mechanism. The elevated calcium levels enhance the force of myocardial contraction, making it a potent inotropic agent.
