Dehydronitrosonisoldipine is a pyridine-containing compound that has been synthesized from dehydronitrosodiphenylamine. It is an ionic liquid with a melting point of 114°C and a boiling point of 272°C. Dehydronitrosonisoldipine has been shown to be active against some bacterial strains, but not others. It is effective for the treatment of infectious diseases such as H. influenzae, M. tuberculosis, and Listeria monocytogenes in animal studies. This compound also shows efficacy against some bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin and erythromycin in vitro.
