This compound can be used for detection because it can be allylated, which makes it detectable using electron capture negative ion mass spectrometry. 2-Formylbenzamide can be used as a bioelectronic sensor for monitoring the levels of TNF and IL-6 in patients with inflammatory disease or cancer.
