Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-, oxime, (E)-
- (E)-2-Hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehydeoxime
2-[(1E)-(Hydroxyimino)methyl]-4-nitrophenol is a metal salt that binds to chloride ions. It also binds to copper and is used in the manufacture of copper alloys. 2-[(1E)-(Hydroxyimino)methyl]-4-nitrophenol reacts with hydroxylamine and radiation, forming an oxime (5-nitrosalicylaldehyde). The oxime can then react with 5-nitrosalicylic acid to form a salicylaldoxime, which is a ligand.
2-[(1E)-(Hydroxyimino)methyl]-4-nitrophenol can be synthesized by reacting 5-Nitrosalicylic acid with oxime or hydroxamine or by heating 5-Nitrosalicylaldehyde in an organic solvent.
