Engeletin is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It also has an effect on energy metabolism, as it stimulates insulin secretion and enhances glucose utilization. Engeletin has been shown to bind with toll-like receptors, which are proteins present on the surface of cells that recognize molecules from outside the cell. These receptors regulate inflammation and other immune responses. Engeletin has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction in vitro by binding to DNA at the replication fork, preventing DNA synthesis. This molecule also inhibits dapagliflozin, an oral diabetes drug that increases insulin secretion through inhibition of sodium/glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2).
