Ethyl 3-O-benzyl-4,6-O-benzylidene-2-deoxy-2-N-phthalamido-a-D-thioglucopyranoside is a custom synthesis of a complex carbohydrate made up of saccharides. This compound is an oligosaccharide with four monosaccharides and two other saccharides. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth in the presence of various antibiotics, including penicillin G, erythromycin, tetracycline, and ampicillin.
