Neolinine is a diterpene alkaloid that is derived from the roots of Aconitum japonicum. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on tumor cell lines in vitro and to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vivo. Neolinine inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells and induces apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells. Neolinine also inhibits the growth of cholangiocarcinoma tumor cells, which are resistant to chemotherapy. The mechanism by which neolinine exerts its anti-cancer effects may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis by inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA replication.
