Product Information
4-Bromomethyl-2-chloroquinoline is an organic compound that contains a pyrrole ring and an alkyl group. It is synthesized by the reaction of 4-bromomethylbenzene with quinoline. This product has been shown to be efficacious against tumor cells in vitro and in vivo, and has antitumor activity. 4-Bromomethyl-2-chloroquinoline is also used as a building block for the synthesis of other heterocyclic compounds. The efficiency of this process depends on the metalation of the pyrrole ring. Lithiation, for example, leads to increased reactivity due to increased electron density on the ring. Alkylation occurs when a reactive alkylating agent reacts with one or more of the bromine atoms on the pyrrole ring, leading to cleavage of carbon bonds in the ring and formation of new bonds between carbon atoms.
