Product Information
Quassinoids are a group of natural products that have been found in plants of the Simaroubaceae family. One example is 14,15-β-dihydroxyklaineanone. Quassinoids are biologically active compounds that have shown to have antiviral and cytotoxic properties. 14,15-β-Dihydroxyklaineanone has been found to inhibit the growth of a number of viruses including HIV, herpes simplex virus type 1, and influenza A virus. The extract of this compound has also been used for the treatment of leishmaniasis, an inflammatory disease caused by parasitic protozoa from the genus Leishmania. There is still much to be learned about the toxicity and safety profile of quassinoids as well as their analytical methods.
