Genistin is a natural compound that belongs to the group of isoflavones. It has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. Genistin also has an effect on energy metabolism, which may be due to its ability to increase mitochondrial membrane potential and stimulate glucose uptake in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. This compound has a matrix effect on dna binding activity and inhibits the transcriptional activity of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in hl-60 cells. Genistin can synergize with other compounds such as genistein, biochanin, or resveratrol.
