Geranyl b-D-glucoside is a supramolecular amphiphile that can be used as a biofuel. It is made up of two molecules: geranyl and glucose. Geranyl b-D-glucoside has been shown to form micelles in water with the help of ions, which are complex aggregates of many molecules that have a hydrophobic interior and hydrophilic exterior. The micelles are able to stabilize the fuel and protect it from degradation by sunlight or other environmental factors.
