Product Information

Name:
Clauszoline M
Description:

Clauszoline M is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of indole alkaloids. It has antimycobacterial activity and has been shown to be an effective treatment for tuberculosis. Clauszoline M is also able to inactivate the virus that causes hepatitis C, but it does not have any effect on HIV. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting their respiratory chain and inhibiting electron transport from quinolates to oxygen. The dehydrogenation process that occurs during this inhibition leads to cross-coupling with other molecules, such as oxygenated toxins, which then binds and damages cell membranes. This drug also inhibits mammalian cells, specifically those found in liver cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell respiration.
