Description

PNU 142633 is a 5-HT receptor agonist that has been shown to lower blood pressure in animal models. It also has anti-viral properties, and is effective against influenza A virus. PNU 142633 is a 5-HT1A receptor agonist, which may be the cause of its anti-migraine effects. This drug does not bind to the 5-HT2 receptor, which may account for its lack of side effects. The terminal half-life of PNU 142633 is 3 hours in rats; this suggests that it could be used as an antimigraine drug with a long duration of action.
