Isoschaftoside is a natural compound that belongs to the group of indole alkaloids. It has been found to have antioxidant properties and to be beneficial in the treatment of deficiency symptoms. Isoschaftoside was isolated from an extract of the plant Isodon schaeferi and has been shown to inhibit nuclear DNA degradation and have anti-inflammatory properties. Isoschaftoside, along with other indole alkaloids, has also been used as a dietary antioxidant in animal studies. The purified form of isoschaftoside can be detected by chromatographic analysis.
