Iristectorin B is a hydrogen bond inhibitor that has been shown to have potential as a cancer chemopreventive agent. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro, and has been shown to reduce the incidence of neoplasia in mice. Iristectorin B binds to hepg2 cells, which are a human hepatocyte cell line, and can protect against liver damage caused by toxins or heavy metals. The molecule also has antioxidant properties and can inhibit lipid peroxidation. Iristectorin B can also bind to the surface of particles, allowing them to be separated by gel chromatography.
