Description:
NG 52 is a lichen that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic properties. NG 52 has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on chronic oral lichen planus, which is a chronic inflammatory disease. The mechanism of the anti-inflammatory effect of NG 52 is believed to be related to its ability to inhibit the activity of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and TLR4, which are receptors for bacterial or viral products. The lichen extract has also been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages, such as IL-1β, IL-6 and TNFα.
