Product Information
Platycoside E is a triterpenoid saponin that was first isolated from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorum. It has been shown to have antiviral, anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activities. In vitro studies have shown that platycoside E inhibits hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication by inhibiting the expression of the viral RNA polymerase. It also inhibits protein synthesis in liver cells and enhances the metabolic rate in skin cells. Platycoside E has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on skin cells and may enhance wound healing in vitro. The glycosidic bond between the sugar and amino acid moieties provide stability to this molecule.
