Description:
1α-Hydroxytorilin is a sesquiterpene lactone with inhibitory effects on cancer cells. It inhibits the homologous recombination repair of DNA and inhibits cell growth, leading to the death of cancer cells. 1α-Hydroxytorilin also has an inhibitory effect on melanogenesis, which is the process by which melanin is synthesized. By inhibiting this process, it can be used as a skin whitening agent.
