3-Chloro-2-ethenyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a benzamide fungicide that inhibits the synthesis of succinate dehydrogenase by blocking the electron transport chain in mitochondria. It has shown to be effective against fungi and bacteria, including Aspergillus niger, Penicillium chrysogenum, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 3-Chloro-2-ethenyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is not active against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes.
