Product Information
L-Lyxono-1,4-lactone is a dehydrogenase that synthesizes hydroxamic acids from aldonic acids. Hydroxamic acids are used as herbicides and insecticides. L-Lyxono-1,4-lactone has been shown to be active against ochrobactrum and branched-chain bacteria. The enzyme catalyzes the cleavage of an aldonic acid to form an alcohol and an alpha, beta unsaturated ketone. This reaction is stereoselective, with the product being the same chiral center in both cases. The enzyme also shows chemometric properties by being able to measure salinity levels in water samples.
