Luteolin-6-C-glucoside is a natural coumarin derivative that can be found in the seed oil of Cnidium officinale. It is a dietary antioxidant and has been shown to reduce the hypsochromic shift in neural cells. Luteolin-6-C-glucoside has also been shown to induce the expression of genes that are required for nerve growth, such as brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This compound binds to DNA and activates transcription factors, including response element and nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB), which stimulate gene expression.
