Methyl 6-azido-6-deoxy-a-D-glucopyranoside is a synthetic, fluorinated, complex carbohydrate that can be used as a building block for the synthesis of saccharides and oligosaccharides. It has been shown to inhibit the glycosylation of proteins and is a useful reagent in click chemistry. Methyl 6-azido-6-deoxy-a-D-glucopyranoside is a nonionic monosaccharide that has been modified with an azido group at C2 and a deoxy group at C3. The compound has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV and influenza A virus.
Methyl 6-azido-6-deoxy--a--D--glucopyranoside is not soluble in water and is best stored at -20°C.
