It has been shown to inhibit the glycosylation of proteins and is a useful reagent in click chemistry. Methyl 6-azido-6-deoxy-a-D-glucopyranoside is a nonionic monosaccharide that has been modified with an azido group at C2 and a deoxy group at C3. The compound has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV and influenza A virus.
