4-Methylumbelliferyl 6-O-(tert-butyldiphenylsilyl)-b-D-galactopyranoside is a fluorescent saccharide that is useful as a reagent for the detection of glycosidases and glycosyltransferases. It is also used to detect the presence of sialic acid residues on glycoconjugates, as well as to determine the terminal sugars in glycoconjugates. This product has been shown to bind to 3'-terminal sialic acid residues on N-glycans, but not to terminal galactose residues.
