Methyl b-D-glucuronide is a disaccharide that is synthesized from methyl d-galactopyranoside and d-glucuronic acid. It is used as a synthon for the synthesis of pentasaccharides, which are glycosyl acceptors in peptide synthesis. Methyl b-D-glucuronide may also be used as an element in the stepwise syntheses of tetraols, which are moieties in the synthesis of certain drugs such as d-galactosamine, chondroitin, and heparin.
