Nystatin is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with their ability to synthesize DNA. It has been shown to have synergistic effects in combination with Nystatin A3, against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. Nystatin has also been shown to have a synergistic effect against Candida glabrata in vitro. Nystatin has not been tested for toxicity in vivo and should not be used for animal studies or as a food additive.
