Description:
Phenyl β-D-thiogalactopyranoside is a selective inhibitor of galectin-3, which mediates the growth and metastasis of cancer cells. Phenyl β-D-thiogalactopyranoside has been shown to inhibit the binding of galectin-3 to its receptor on cancer cells, thereby blocking the activation of signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation and survival. The crystalline form can be used as a reagent for the determination of glucose in aqueous solutions.
