Phenyl 3-O-Allyl-2,4,6-tri-O-benzyl-b-D-thiogalactopyranoside (PTAG) is a modified glycosylated monosaccharide which has been synthesized by the Click Reaction. The synthesis of PTAG was achieved by the reaction between 2,3,4,6-tetra O-benzyl bD thiogalactopyranose and benzylic alcohol. PTAG is an oligosaccharide with a molecular weight of 1,000 Da and consists of six glucopyranose units. It can be used as a building block in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates.
