Syringin is a natural product that has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects and significant cytotoxicity. It has been studied for its ability to induce apoptosis in various cell lines, including mouse tumor cells. Syringin is also known to inhibit the growth of tumors through the inhibition of energy metabolism and neuronal death. Syringin is found in the roots of Eleutherococus senticosus, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent. The active form of syringin is syringin, which can be obtained by chromatographic analysis. The chemical structure of syringin has not yet been elucidated; however, it may be related to other pharmacological agents that are involved in apoptosis pathways such as deprenyl or dexamethasone.
