Description:
Sialic acid aldolase is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of sialic acid to glyco-neural, L-gulonic, and D-idonic acids. It has been shown to have an important role in the biosynthesis of neuraminic acids, which are important for cellular recognition and adhesion. Sialic acid aldolase is found in the extracellular matrix. The activation energy for this enzyme is between 4.5 and 5.5 kcal/mol. It is also known as Aqueous solution (AQS).
