Description:

Salidroside is a natural compound that belongs to the group of compounds known as sesquiterpene lactones. It has been shown to have biological properties in vitro, such as apoptosis induction, autophagy inhibition, and control of cell transformation. Salidroside has also been shown to inhibit skin tumor formation in vivo and to reduce the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins. The apoptosis pathway is a major target for salidroside because it may be involved in the regulation of DNA damage responses. Salidroside has been shown to induce apoptosis by inhibiting dinucleotide phosphate (DNP) synthase and activating caspases. This activation is mediated by the protein kinase C (PKC), which leads to activation of caspase-3, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, and other pro-apoptotic proteins.
