SGC707 is a novel inhibitor of ATP binding cassette transporter that has been shown to inhibit the transcriptional regulation of fatty acid metabolism in cancer cells. SGC707 has been shown to potently inhibit the transcriptional activation of genes involved in fatty acid synthesis by histone proteins, including acetyl-CoA carboxylase and fatty acid synthase. SGC707 inhibits the epigenetic modification of histones, which results in reduced levels of acetyl-CoA carboxylase and fatty acid synthase proteins. This inhibition leads to decreased fat synthesis and accumulation in cancer cells.
