3,2',3',4'-Tetra-O-acetyl-6,6'-di-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilyl-lactal is a modification of the oligosaccharide. The structure of this compound is an alpha-(1→4)-linked beta-D-galactopyranosyl residue, which is attached to a 3,2',3',4'-tetra-O-acetyl 6,6'-di-O-[ tert -butyldiphenylsilyl] lactal residue. This compound has been shown to be synthesized by methylation and glycosylation of the monosaccharide maltose. This modification has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria.
