Tetraacetylated glucosamine hydrochloride is used to produce bacterial cellulose through the action of cellulase enzymes on sucrose solutions containing NaOH. In addition, this product has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of fibroblasts and epithelial cells when cultured in vitro.
