Tectoridin is a natural hypoglycemic compound that has antioxidative properties. It has been shown to have a postprandial blood glucose-lowering effect in human serum. Tectoridin has also been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators, such as NF-κB and IL-1β, by LPS-induced macrophages. This compound also inhibits the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. Tectoridin is an active ingredient in Pueraria lobata, which is used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2 with postprandial hyperglycemia.
