1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-benzoyl-6-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilyl-b-D-glucopyranose is a synthetic sugar that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of a variety of saccharides. It is prepared by the benzoylation of glucose with 1,2,3,4 tetra O benzoyl chloride in the presence of tert butyldiphenylsilyl chloride. The product is then treated with hydrochloric acid to form the corresponding methyl ester. This compound has been shown to have high purity and excellent solubility in organic solvents.
