Tetra-O-acetyl-4-azido-4-deoxy-b-D-glucose is a modified carbohydrate with the chemical formula C8H14N2O6. It is a white crystalline solid that can be synthesized from methylated 1,2,3,6-tetra-O-acetyl b-D-glucopyranoside and sodium azide. Tetra-O-acetyl b-(1→4)-d-[(1→2)-a] D -glucopyranose is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of glycosides and polysaccharides. It is also used as a reagent for preparing oligosaccharides and glycoproteins by modification reactions.
