Description:Tiazofurin is a novel anticancer agent that inhibits the activity of various enzymes, including dehydrogenase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase. Tiazofurin shows significant cytotoxicity against human leukemia cells in vitro. It also has an anti-infectious effect on hl-60 cells and k562 cells, which are carcinoma cell lines. Tiazofurin has been shown to have a higher inhibitory effect on dextran sulfate than on basic protein in vitro, suggesting that it may be more effective as an anticancer compound against cancerous tumors with high levels of glycolipids.
