It has been fluorinated to give 2,3,4,6-Tetra-O-pivaloyl-a-D-(2'-fluoroethyl)mannopyranosyl bromide (CAS No. 1360879-08). This compound can be methylated to give 2,3,4,6-Tetra-O-(2'-methoxy)pivaloylmannopyranosyl bromide (CAS No. 1360879-09). It is also a click modification agent for complex carbohydrates.
