Taxicatin is a cytotoxic drug that is extracted from the leaves of Taxus brevifolia. It has been shown to have anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties, as well as an ability to inhibit the growth of some bacteria. The taxins are a group of related compounds that are found in the leaves of Taxus brevifolia (a yew tree). The taxanes are a group of related compounds that are found in the needles, bark, and roots of Taxus brevifolia. Taxanes have been shown to be effective against leukemia cells and certain cancers, including breast cancer. Chemical reactions with proton donors or electron acceptors lead to metabolites with different biological activities. Dry powder extracts were prepared using ethanol for tissue culture experiments on human lung fibroblasts cells.
Taxicatin was synthesized from 10-deacetylbaccatin III by eluting it from a silica gel column with chloroform/meth
