Description:
UDP-α-D-galacturonic acid is a biochemical precursor for the synthesis of UDP-glucuronic acid. It is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans and lipopolysaccharides. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis in vitro. The presence of this compound may be detected by its ability to act as a substrate for glucuronidation reactions.
