Product Information
- CarabrolactoneA
Carabrolactone A is a sesquiterpene lactone that is isolated from the seeds of Carissa carandas. It has been studied for its effects on the human intestinal cell line Hl-60. Carabrolactone A inhibits the production of prostaglandins and stimulates the secretion of chloride ions, which leads to diarrhoea. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties which may be due to its inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines in vitro. In addition, carabrolactone A has a hepatoprotective effect in animal models of liver disease and it has been shown to suppress hepatitis B virus replication in cultured cells. The systematic study of this molecule revealed that it possesses numerous biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.
