Cis-zeatin-o-glucoside can be obtained from the hydrolysis of zeatin, which is synthesized by a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase enzyme. The biosynthesis of cis-zeatin-o-glucoside involves two enzymes: an apical carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system.
