This compound has antiviral activity against HIV and DNA synthesis inhibitory activity against cancer cells. 5'-O-p-Anisoyl-2,2'-anhydrouridine is also a modified nucleoside that can be used for the synthesis of phosphoramidites for the chemical synthesis of oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN).
