Product Information
- ADP.K
- Adenosine 5'-diphosphate monopotassium salt
- Adenosine 5'-(Trihydrogendiphosphate)Monopotassium Salt Dihydrate
Adenosine 5'-diphosphate potassium salt is a nucleotide that is required for the production of energy in the mitochondria during muscle contraction. The level of ATP in muscle cells decreases when ATP is hydrolyzed to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and phosphate, which can be recycled and reused to form ATP. Adenosine 5'-diphosphate potassium salt also functions as an intracellular messenger that regulates cellular metabolism by altering the permeability of sarcolemma and cell membrane, which are composed of phospholipids and proteins. Adenosine 5'-diphosphate potassium salt has been shown to affect transport chain activity by binding to transport proteins in the plasma membrane or mitochondrial membranes. This leads to increased rates of respiration, which results in enhanced mitochondrial function.
