Product Information
3'-Amino-3'-deoxycytidine is a crystalline compound that is used as a precursor to other drugs. 3'-Amino-3'-deoxycytidine is an azide, and when reacted with periodate, it forms cytidine. Cytidine can be converted to adenosine by acetolysis. Adenosine can be oxidized by sodium borohydride to form nucleotides. This compound has been shown to inhibit the phosphodiesterase enzyme in the spleen, which may be responsible for its effects on pancreatic cells. 3'-Amino-3'-deoxycytidine also inhibits the phosphodiesterase enzyme in the liver, leading to an increase in cyclic AMP levels and activation of protein kinase A, which may contribute to its inhibition of tumor growth.
